Electrical Compliance Testing

The Australian Standard AS/NZ/3760:2010 In-Service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment requires that Electrical Compliance Technicians are deemed as competent and proficient to carry out the functions having gained such competence through training and experience. Training is available through a number of Registered Training Organisations including:

  1. TAFE SA School of Engineering Regency Park and O’Halloran Hill– In-service Inspection and Testing Electrical Equipment www.tafesa.edu.au
  2. PEER VEET – Electrical Power Tool Testing www.peer.com.au
  3. ATEC – Safety Checking Electrical Appliances www.atec.asn.au

All are short courses (1 day) that link to national accredited training. Participants receive a Result Notification at the end of the course deeming their competence level – it is not a certificate course. Training providers charge in the vicinity of $270 for the course which is run on a regular basis throughout the year.

In addition to training, electrical compliance Technicians are required to undergo a police clearance.

Application & Selection Process

How to apply:

  1. Send a current resume outlining your previous work experience
  2. Include in the resume at least two work referees
  3. Enclose a copy of a police clearance (if you already have one)
  4. Enclose evidence of relevant training or qualifications

Suitable applicants will be:

  1. Interviewed by the Managing Director
  2. Offered off the floor training
  3. Offered on the floor training and instruction during which time your skills will be assessed
  4. Offered a trial period
